Immigration
Our brothers and sisters in the immigrant community have been subject to ICE raids and much unjust national scorn. We recognize this misplaced hate of some members of the public and government and wish to eradicate that hate. We, as Americans, are all a nation of immigrants and to keep out and/or discriminate against those who came to this country for a better life is hypocritical of us.
The Pirate Party of New York recognizes the concern of the children of immigrants to this country that their parents can be deported at anytime despite the fact that such children may be citizens of this nation. PPNY and all of it’s members are committed to the reform of immigration laws to allow for all who wish to live in our country to do so legally without fear or harassment by other citizens and government officials. Immigrants from all nations that come to the United States for a better life where they can live and work comfortably is what our ancestors wished to do before them and we see all HUMAN BEINGS as equal despite their country of origin.
LGBT Issues
Our brothers and sisters in the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, and Transgendered community have suffered repression and discrimination here and around the world. Here in New York in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City the homosexual community fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted sexual minorities. That struggle has been going strong ever since and with the recent failure of our State and Local governments to secure the same rights for our LGBT brothers and sisters that our heterosexual brothers and sisters enjoy, we wish to continue their struggle for equal rights side by side. We recognize that a civil right is not something that can be put on a ballot to be put up for a vote, it is something that must be upheld and implemented as a given right under the 14th Amendment of our United States constitution.
We here that the PPNY will not compromise or conceded on this issues for legislative “scraps” being thrown to the LGBT community and will demand full and equal protection under the law be upheld by our government and protect this community from any persecution and/or discrimination, public or private, than may come about as a result.
The Environment
We talk of this issue from a stance of thinking about the entire world population and call them “our brothers and sisters” as well in this case.. Recent talks in Copenhagen collapsed as a result of only a few powerful nations refusing to give up sovereignty, one of them being the U.S., in order to combat the imminent danger we face if we do not reduce carbon emissions. We believe the United States government to be in dereliction of it’s duty to the world as well as the entire human race by refusing to take the agreed upon terms of combating the negative effects our nation is having on the environment. We recognize the right and intent of lesser developed nations to develop above their current state and realize that “sustainable development” is not achievable if some of the more powerful nations do not agree to reduce their impact on the environment.
In summation, air, food , and water, before profit and business policy. This is our planet and we should be moving toward a more environmentally friendly and “green” future with emphasis on less waste assuming eternal supply of our plant’s natural resources.
Health Care
Our brothers and sisters in the United States currently living with insufficient or no health care are members of this party. The struggle to have Universal Health Care for all in the United States is a struggle that we believe is morally righteous and a testament to our humanity if we do not get it. We believe that enacting a single-payer health care system in which the government pays for each case out of a national pool of taxes is not only feasible, but absolutely necessary as more and more Americans who rely on their employer based health care lose their jobs and thus their health care.
The government has the resources to implement the single-payer program we demand yet special interests in government continue to obstruct our democratic process by using their money to influence our elected representatives. Every other Western Industrialized nation offers Universal Health Care to their citizens and the United States should be no different.
When recent legislation was proposed and watered down again and again only to then be rejected even in it’s weaken form, it showed to us that the government would rather sentence 45,000 Americans a year to death than offer health care to all and be competition for the Health Care Industry and Big Pharama lobby that funds BOTH party’s campaigns.
Financial Reform
Our brothers and sisters who paid taxes for the government to be able to pay for the social welfare programs and general necessities of us citizens has handed over our Social Security funds for the next century to Wall Street and the banks in order to have capital to lend to the people during the time in which they messed up our economy.
Instead of lending the money to the people as the government asked, they used the money to lobby our representatives to NOT enforce the regulations they have now nor expand upon them to keep an economic collapse like this from happening as a result of the greedy actions of a few.
Now, with no accountability for their actions, these financial firms will store reserves in the Treasury (made up of our tax money bailout) so as not to lend it but be able to go out and profit even more with a fresh set of reserves to do it and a government paralyzed to act because our representatives depend on campaign contributions from that industry in order to keep their jobs.
We, the Pirate Party of the United States, CAN’T BE BOUGHT!!!!
We will fight for accountability, transparency, and if elected to office will issue a number of moratoriums on everything from housing foreclosures all the way down to unfair overdraft fees and credit card company abuse at the smallest levels of a citizen’s private finances.

Nuestros hermanos y hermanas en la comunidad de inmigrantes han sido objeto de redadas de ICE y mucho desprecio nacional injusta. La lucha por tener Universal Health Care para todos en los Estados Unidos es una lucha que creemos que es moralmente justo y un testimonio de nuestra humanidad si no lo entiendo. Creemos que la promulgación de un único sistema de proveedor de cuidado de salud en que el gobierno paga por cada caso de un fondo nacional de los impuestos es no sólo factible, sino absolutamente necesario, como más y más americanos que dependen de su empleador atención de la salud basada en perder sus puestos de trabajo y por tanto su atención médica.
El gobierno tiene los recursos para aplicar el programa de un solo pagador nosotros exigimos todavía intereses especiales en el gobierno siguen obstruyendo nuestro proceso democrático mediante el uso de su dinero para influir en nuestros representantes electos.
